Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Referred to as one of the eight wonders of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is not a National Park as it’s mistakenly known by most of the people, but a conservation area where people and wildlife co-exist in their natural set up.

The crater is 600-meters deep, 20 km in diameter and 300 square kilometers, teaming with natural pools and ponds. One gets not only group of the big five that’s the Lion,Elephant,Leopards,Rhinos and not forgetting the rare black rhino and buffalo among the many others. For the bird lovers the crater is host to a variety of species, large birds such as Ostriches, Flamingos, Kori Bustards, Secretary birds to name just a few. Animals are free to enter and leave the crater, but many of them stay for the plentiful water and rich health grazing grass the crater floor has to provide throughout the year.

The Crater Rim is placed in the cold highlands forest where accommodation is available from the lodges, Private and public campsites.
