Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park is the most famous and the most visited southern game sanctuaries of Africa. It is also considered as the best southern Tanzania package you will really enjoy a lot. It is found 283 km west of Tazania’s commercial coastal capital named Dar es Salaam. It occupies around 3,230 sq km. you will be able to find a lot of wild animals here. The wildlife found here includes zebras, impala, giraffes, lions, elephants, Buffalos, eland and hartebeests. In this region, you will also find the carnivorous species, the Wild dogs that have become endangered in very large numbers. Other than these animals, you will also get to see hippopotamuses, monitor lizards and crocodiles in large numbers. The wild south safari is loved by visitors a lot. Rainy seasons become colorful with the arrival of a large number of birds to this region. You will find around 300 species of birds in this park during the rainy seasons.

The highlight of this park is the Mikumi flood plain, which lies between the Lumango range and the Uluguru Mountains. Mikumi is the northern part of the game reserve named Selous and covers an area of 75,000 sq km. Unlike other parks or sanctuaries in the southern circuit, Mikumi National Park can be visited all throughout the year, and most travelers love to visit the place over and over. Reaching Mikumi is easy and cheap if you try taking a bus ride to the gates of the park. Here, you will find a small number of luxury lodges, three sites for camps. Travelers usually love tented camps which offer them whole lot of fun, enjoyment and adventure.
